    3. Message When I was little, my mother used to sew a great deal. I would sit at her knee and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She informed me that she was embroidering. As from the underside I watched her work within the boundaries of the little round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked messy from where I sat. She would smile at me, look down and gently say, "Son, you go about your playing for a while, and when I am finished with my embroidering, I will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side." I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the bright ones and why they seemed so jumbled from my view. A few minutes would pass and then I would hear Mother's voice say, "Son, come and sit on my knee." This I did only to be surprised and thrill ed to see a beautiful flower, or a sunset. I could not believe it, because from underneath it looked so messy. Then Mother would say to me, "My son, from underneath! it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize that there was a plan on the top. It was a design. I was only following it. Now look at it from my side and you will see what I was doing." Many times through the years I have looked up to heaven and said, "Father, what are You doing?" He has answered, "I am embroidering your life." I say, "But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumbled. The threads seem so dark. Why can't they all be bright?" The Father seems to tell me, "'My child, you go about your business of doing My business, and one day I will bring you to Heaven and put you on My knee and you will see the plan from My side." May today there be peace within you. May you trustGod that you are exactly where y ou are meant to be "I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

As to Sarah's death date I don't know that either. The land left to her two sons was sold by them - Micajah's deed in 1799 and William's deed in 1801. Land tax records indicate - Sarah Via from 1782 through 1801 in Albemarle Co., Virginia Land Tax records as paying tax on 200 acres of land. What this seems to represent to me is that Micajah was of age by 1799 and William by 1801. Judy

    3. Good Morning!!! Found the will of Benjamin Snead of Albemarle County. He mentions son John and other children but no Sarah. However he could have been a brother to Sarah, if her last name was Sneed. This name is spelled both ways in the records of Albem. Co. This is the famiy I spoke of because some married into the Garth family that lived nearby and it is mentioned of land purchased of Thomas Meriweather which is also in this neighborhood. 2. Maupin Reunion
    3. Good Evening!!! Just remembered more. The very large house that is now part of Birdwood Golf Couse (I think that is the name of it) was owned by a Tory, and it was taken away from him and he was ran out of town during the early days of the Rev. War. Read that it was the headquarters for men to sign up for the War. After the War he was paid something for it and it has been kept up and is a beautiful building today. This is the place close to Snead and to Samuel Rea who married Jean Maupin. I found this while I was working on Samuel Rea and Jean Maupin's line. The original road running south from Garth Road has been re-routed when Birdwood was developed and is now nicknamed "21 curves" I believe. If anyone on this group is from the area they will know more about this road. Linda Jarman Valentine told me about it. Anyway I will try and locate the lady who was working on the Sneads. She wrote to me several times about the Sneads. I will check the Tax rolls and see if I can find out more. A will or deed transfer in Albem. might give his daughters names and who they married. John Snead probably died after William Via. Do you know when his wife Sarah died? 3. Good Morning!!! Judy, you may have found a real clue. Since William Sneed Via's mother was a Smith, then perhaps his one of his grandmothers was a Sneed. His grandfather William Via was married to a Sarah (I have no last name for her-do you?). The Sneed family of the White Hall area lived just south of the Barracks. One of the Rev. papers of a Maupin stated "he signed up close to Sneads". Have worked with a Maupin Descendant who was working on these Sneads. Now if I can just find her and ask if there was a Sarah Snead Via in that line. The place the Sneads would have lived is around Ivy Creek and close to the (now) town or place called Ivy on the map. Where was the land of William Via and Sarah located?
