Good Morning, Via Group!!! While going through the obits from the "Daily Progress" that are on line. I saw an obituary for a Viar. I lived there for nine years knew some of this family, but did not know they spelled it Viar. Finally heard from the Vier in Kent County. She sent me a telephone number for her uncle that knows of the Via in that part of Virginia. Will call him and let you all know what he has to say of the Vier, Via name. I found Edward and Rosa Via in the Albemarle County 1920 Federal Census. In the SOUNDEX he was Dewey Via, age 20, with Rosa Lee, age 18, and son Edward Lee, age 1. In the Albemarle County "General Index To Marriages Book 3 (1914 to 1919) there is a listing for Edward D___ marrying Rosa in 1918 in Book 3/Pg 31/Lic# 79. Correct date for marriage between Columbia Elizabeth Slater and John Rodahafer is 12 Dec 1861. My mistake. Lu

Elaine - You might tell Robert Via, the person who is seeking his Via ancestors, that according to the dates above that Helen Stogdale found, he most probably will find all of his ancestors on the censuses of Albemarle. Edward Dewey Via would be on the 1900 and 1910 with his parents and siblings. Rosa would be on the 1910 census with her parents. Edward and Rosa's parents would be on earlier censuses with their parents. Somewhere on line is posted census records of some Vias from, I think, the 1900 censuses, in the Crozet area, so they are probably there also. ~~ Edna Barney Happy Valentine's Day!
