Hi Peggy! I too descend from John and Sarah (Hayworth) Wheeler through their daughter Mary. Mary's son William Vestal married Elizabeth Newby and I descend from their daughter, Rachel C. Vestal who married Robert Polk Petty. Anyway, in response to your questions: 1) I know nothing about John Wheeler's mother being Kesiah Manlove. To the contrary, Hinshaw's Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Vol. 1 on page 367 says that John Wheeler who married Elizabeth Piggott was "s. John & Mary, b. about 4-8-1746, in Md." 2) Also on pg 367 is John's death 11-7-1802. 3) The death of Sarah (Hayworth) Wheeler is shown on page 367 in the same family grouping with John and Mary (Piggott) Wheeler, as follows: "Sarah Wheeler, dt. Stephanus & Rachel Hayworth, d. 3-26-1789, in 39th yr., bur. Cane Creek." The fact that Sarah (Hayworth) Wheeler's death is given in the same grouping does not prove that she was the first wife of the same John as Married Elizabeth Piggott, bit I have taken it as such. Also, the weel known Vestal researcher, Eunice M. Vestal sent me materials in which she lists both of these women as the wives of the same John Wheeler. 4) By the way, on page 366 the complete family grouping of William and Mary (Wheeler) Vestal is given with the birth dates seven children and the deaths of both William and Mary. William and Mary's marriage is given on pages 426 and 428 as February 10, 1791 at Cane Creek MM, rather than in 1795 as you mention in your inquiry. (The birth of their first child, Thomas, is given as 11-18-1791). 5) I have info on ancestors of William Vestal and Elizabeth Piggott, if you are interested. You may already have all of the above and be looking for more, but thought I'd send it along, just in case. Best Wishes, David G. White Burlington, VT whiteknight@adelphia.net
