Eunice Vestal, a generous and helpful Vestal researcher for many years has supplied me some new anecdotal and amy be garbled family information gathered in the 1920's and 1940's on my ancestor David Vestal who died in Ripley Co., IN 1 Oct 1879: 1. That he had a twin brother, named John. 2. That he had a brother named William and a sister named Rachel. 3. That William and John moved with David to IN settling in different parts of the state. (Probably not true) 4. That brother John married Elizabeth Wade the sister of David's wife, Sarah Wade. Eunice also offered some chronology of a few known events: ca 1786 or 1791 William Vestal born Surry Co., NC (parents unknown) 1788, 2 Jan, Surry Co., NC David & John Vestal born (according to IndianaVestal family bible) (parents not known) 1810 at age 22 David and John moved to Wayne Co., KY 1812, 9 Apr at age 24 David Vestal marries Sarah Wade, Wayne Co., KY. She was the d/o Dawson and Nancy (Rice) Wade. Surety, Dawson Wade. Married 9 April 1812 by Elliot Jones. 1812, 13 Aug., Jacob Vestal married Silah Summers, Wayne Co., KY. Relationship to David unknown. Surety, Richard Summers. Also married by Elliott Jones. Bond dated 5 July 1812. 1812, 23 Aug. David Vestal enlisted in KY militia, Wayne Co., KY. 1813, 1 Mar., David Vestal dischared Cincinnati, OH --- received a land warrant of 160 acres for his military servie (where was land located?) 1814 David Vestal and Dawson Wade witnessed John Anderson's will, Montgomery Co., KY 1814, 10 Feb., James Vestal marries Jemima Wright, Wayne Co., KY. Surety Jesse Mullenix. Married by Elliot Jones. Endorsement on Bond: "Lady proved of age by the oath of Jesse Mullenix - Gents parents present and consented." Relationship to David Vestal unknown 1819 a William Vestal witnessed the will of Dawson Wade, Sr., Montgomery Co., KY 1820, 9 Apr. , William Vestal, married Esther Moore in Montgomery Co., KY. 1821, 11 Jan., Rebecca Vestal married Claibourne Wright, Wayne Co., KY. Lavina Vestal married William Phipps, Wayne co. date not known 1822 at age 34 David Vestal moved from Ky to Jefferson Co., IN 1830, 19 Sep a William Vestal, b Ca 1796 NC married Harriet Anderson (d/o Wm. Anderson?) Campbell Co. (Kenton Co.) KY. Wm. and Harriet Vestal stayed in KY 1830 Wayne Co., KY Tax Delinquent List: James, John, Sr., John, Jr. Vestil removed to MO. I do not know the parents of David Vestal born 1788, but I am working on the suppostion that David may be the s/o John and Elizabeth "Sibby" (Carter) Vestal, s/o Thomas Curran and Elizabeth Davis Vestal, s/o William and Elizabeth Mercer Vestal. If anyone recognizes any resemblence to this Surry Co. family please help me identify where my David Vestal, b. 2 Jan 1788, Surry Co., NC, died 1 Oct 1879, Ripley Co., IN fits into the Vestal family. I am especially interested in the Williams who married in KY and the John's who go to Macon Co., MO. I will post later extensive descendants of David and Sarah Wade Vestal soon.
