Andy I an not a decendant of William but my wife is a Vestal that comes down a different line. My interest in William is a part of the larger picture. I am working on a database of the entire Vestal family from William and Alice Glover on down. I believe there are only three real choices for the parents of your William.However,I could be wrong. Lines that decend from William Vestal and Elizabeth Mercer 1.William Vestal (1723) had no male heirs. 2.John Vestal/Ann Potts had 3 sons,their lines are unknown to me at this time so they are one possibility. 3.Thomas Vestal/Elizabeth Davis There lines are to well documented.I just do not believe there is anywhere to fit William in that line. 4.James Vestal Sr./ Jay,Allen,Casady While William (1792) is a possibility,I do not believe that he is the right William because Williams father was a William (1759) and you would not think that a William Sr. would have a William for a father. Thomas Vestal (1766) /Ann Martin married Oct. 4,1791 in Surry Co,NC is a likely choice.The 2nd possibility.The time frame is right,his decendants are unknown and William Sr. oldest son was named Thomas (from the info that I have) The rest of James Vestal Sr. decendants are well documented and the birth dates and marrage dates do not leave very much room to add anyone in the 1802 time frame. 5.David Anthony Vestal/Sarah Chamness This line is also very well documented,except for Nathan Vestal (1763 to 1834) spouse unknown He is the third likely choice.All of Davids other children have wifes and Children accounted for. This is all the lines that decend from William Vestal and Elizabeth Mercer and accounts for all of his male heirs.
