He was married to Ann Potts (daughter of David Potts and Elizabeth Lane)on 25 Dec 1748 at the Goose Creek MM, Frederick Co., VA (now Jefferson Co., WV) [Encyclopedia of Amer Quakers; William Wade Hinshaw; Goose Creek MM, page 716.] Ann (also known as Hannah )Potts was born about 1730 in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA. John and Ann, with dau Elizabeth, disowned from Hopewell MM for consenting to daughter's marrying outside of unity Col. Bealor. Birthdate also listed as 1733, Chester Co. 1 Jun 1772 John Vestal consented to his daughter's marriage out of unity [to Bealor] and made her a wedding at his house. James Steer and Richard ridgeway Jr. appointed to visit him. 6 Jul 1772 John Vestal complained of for drinking. Jonathan Perkins appointed to draw testimony against John Vestal and to assist women to draw testimony against Ann Vestal and Elizabeth Bealor. 5-3-1779 John was 'complained against for training in the military service and also has hired a man as substitute to go into the war."
