    3. Hi everybody! This note is to say that our list is still active, and you are still on it, if you received this. How about some of you listing your ancestor's data, and what you would like to find? Let's liven up this list! We have some new subscribers, and we would like to see your Vestal line whenever you have time to post it. You never know when you will make that important connection, or find that one piece of info which you have been searching for years! To the new members, in case you aren't aware of this, our archives of this list are at the rootsweb site: http://lists.rootsweb.com/ or http://lists.rootsweb.com/~archiver/lists/ I started this mail list in Jan. 1997, so there is a lot of data there. Maybe that one piece of info which you need! Be sure to check out the GenWeb sites of the States and Counties! There is quite a collection posted there, like cemetery records, census records or index, wills, etc.!!!! This is at rootsweb also, just go the main site: http://lists.rootsweb.com/ Aren't the folks at Rootsweb great? This is also a good time to let you know, if you wish to help keep these mail lists free from ROOTSWEB, you might consider by becoming a member or sponsor. For more info, just go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/ or http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html The folks at rootsweb are continuing adding additional computer equipment so that these mail lists (3,000 +) will run smoother. If you feel you have gained some knowledge from these lists, you might consider how much is that worth to you, and join. Go to the GenWeb archives which is on Rootsweb, and do searches. They have cemetery records, land records, census records, and whatever someone has donated. This is a GREAT TOOL! I'm renewing my membership for sponsorship. I have been grandfathered because my lists were at Indiana University when rootsweb took them over, so I wasn't required to join, but felt I needed to be, at least, a sponsor. I guess I really should be at the sponsor plus level, because I have 4 lists, but can't do that now. Some of you did contribute in my name last year, and I really appreciated it! If you want to donate/join rootsweb, and if you don't care to run a surname list, and want to help me in some way, let me know. We are also allowed to have a surname webpage at rootsweb, but with my current membership, I'm only allowed to have 2 surname lists. Unless I can upgrade to the next level, then we (I) can have 4 surname web pages. If someone would like to help me with this list, and with the surname board, I would appreciate this. Obviously, I need help, as I can't keep up with everything anymore. On these surname webpages, many records are being posted like wills, deeds, cemetery records, etc. This means anyone can post, not just members of our list. This is an excellent idea! If we can get to this next level, would someone here, be willing to maintain this webpage? At this time, I have no idea how much time this would be. Vestal Family Association: (non-members, please excuse me here) Also, to those of you who have joined the Vestal Family Association, I'm really sorry that we haven't been active. I really, really do need your HELP here!!!! As you know, Jeff, had to step down as the acting President. I would like to find someone who is willing to take this over, be President, need someone to be Secretary, a Treasurer, maybe a board. I can still be the membership chairperson. I could also act as Treasurer. In fact to make something really great from this. Jeff had sent me all the Vestal documents that we were finally able to purchase. It was hard trying to get enough funds ($200) to do this, but we finally did it! I'm sorry that I haven't been able to make copies of this, or even have time to type some of this up and email our VFA members. I would also like to find some members who are willing to type up some of those documents and letters. And then perhaps, we can email this info to the Vestal Family Association members. This would be a good way and least expensive way to get this info out to our members, as our funds are low. I might be able to scan the photos, and email them this way to you. Folks, think about this. What are your ideas? Do any of you have any officer and organizing experience? (If not, and you still want to help, that's okay, too.) Please, please let me know. Ever since my husband's accident last year, and then my Mom's health problems, it's hard for me to keep up with everything. Like now, I should be doing some other things, but feel I need to do something about the Vestal Family Association. I'm the membership chairperson and Historian for the Jay Family Assoc. also. I have admitted, I'm not a super woman, and need help! I do have some of your VFA dues here which you mailed to me, but not cashed yet. I will try to get to these soon. I guess this is all for now.
