This David was son of David Anthony Vestal and Sararh Chamness, son of William Vestal and Elizabeth Mercer, son of William Vestal and Alice Glover. David Vestal, b. 2 Jan 1788 in Surry Co., married Sarah Wade, daughter of Dawson Wade, Jr. and Nancy Rice on 9 Apr 1812 in Wayne Co., KY. Died 1 Oct 1876, Shelby Twp., Ripley Co., IN. This David's ascent is not known but I conjecture from circumstantial evidence that he is possibly the son of Thomas Curran Vestal and Amy Thompson, son of Thomas Curran Vestal and Elizabeth Davis, son of William Vestal and Elizabeth Mercer, son of William Vestal and Alice Glover. I descend from this latter David and am working to prove his parents. We do know his birthdate from a Vestal family bible, copied in 1923. Family tradition in Indiana in the 1940's said that this David had a twin brother, John Vestal. David was also said by the same early researchers to have had also an elder brother named, William and a younger sister named Rachel. Further, David's brother, John, is thought to have marred Sarah Wade's sister, Elizabeth Wade. And the elder brother, William Vestal, was said to have married Sarah Wade's cousin, Esther More. Esther More was the daughter of Thomas More and Nancy Wade, the sister of Dawson Wade, Jr., the father of Sarah Wade above. But at least I am very sure that the David Vestal of Ripley Co., IN is not the son of David and Sarah Chamness Vestal if their sons birthday, 12 Dec 1785, is accurate. Tom Rea
