Hi everybody! Someone had mention to me that our group would like to know what is going on with me. I'm still driving to my mother's home to help out as much as I can. She just has a hard time doing things around her home, not from the heart by-pass as much, but due to arthritis, and knees. And when I'm here, I'm trying to prepare for the Christmas holidays, etc. I have been making and sewing quite a few Christmas gifts. This is therapy for me!!! My husband has healed nicely from his fall, and is doing great. We did lose our much loved dog, recently, which was a part of our family for about 14 yrs. I never would have believed that I would miss her so much! Hopefully, in the new year, I will get some time to start reading some of the many emails which I have rec'd from you and the group. I have a copy of that Trails West article and it does not say anything at all about the parents of William Vestal Sr. Maybe he has a different copy than I do or maybe they have updated it from the original. It has not been proven to any of the descendent of William Vestal Sr., who his parents were but we are hopeful the information exists.

Tim Gore said that the parents of William Dugan Vestal's parents are William Vestal and Sarah Chamness Vestal.He told me that a letter written by Susan Armstrong Steele (the 2nd wife of William Dugan) that was published in the periodical "Trails West Newsletter"lists the ancestry of William Dugan and names William Vestal and Sarah Chamness Vestal as his grandparents.

Thomas Dougan and Hester Kimbrough are the grandparents of William Dougan Vestal on his mother's side. His mother was Rachel Dougan. She was born 1810 in Franklin County Tennessee and died 1830 Dyer County Tennessee. It is not yet known who the grandparents are on his father side. William Vestal Sr. married Rachel Dougan about 1826 in Tennessee. William Dougan Vestal is a half brother to my Thomas Vestal. Thomas is the oldest of Willliam Sr.'s children from his first wife who is unknown at the moment. Sarah Ann Hood was William Dougan Vestal's first wife. She is the daughter of Humphrey Hood and Sarah Truesdale. William Dougan married a second wife named Susan Armstrong Steele. She was the daughter of Robert Steele and Elvira Foley. Susan was married to Samuel W. Hardin first. He died the 18th of September, 1865. They had a 4 children, one of whom was named John Weslie Hardin who died at a young age. This is my first time on and I want to include our family line beginning with William S. Vestal. We are trying to find his ancestors and have not been able to do this conclusively. The Putnam County MO Vestals are definitely our line, and would like to start up a dialog with anyone who can connect to it. From the information that I have. William Vestal (1826) the son of James Vestal and Jemima Wright married Milly Jane Gipson on December 9,1842 in Macon Co.,Missouri.They had four sons. John ,Jacob, Robert and William. Williams brother David Vestal married Malvina Branscomb December 23,1841 in Maco Co.,Missouri according to Marriages-Missouri to 1850 found on Ancestry.com.
