This is a reply to Rasberry. I'm trying not to get too excited, but your Vestal is the closest I've come to my line in a long time! My ancestor Henry Vestal was born 1860 in Yadkin Co, NC. (he married Laura Seymour and some of their children moved to Warren Co Indiana) His marriage record to Laura listed his parents as Sal S and Caroline Vestal. The handwriting was hard to read and I guessed Sal was probably Solomon. This could very well be your Solomon and Caroline. Where did you find them? The Pendry name sounds familiar too. My Vestal is: Elizabeth Vestal (b England? VA?) m Alexander Blair c1785. She died Franklin Co OH c 1820. One son, John Blair, was born "near Harper's Ferry" VA 1788. Another son, Vestal Blair, died Madison Co OH c1819. Nine other children, no names known.

Both are listed on my Family tree located at the Familytree maker site.Thomas Vestal and Amy Thompson are her parents.Thomas Vestal and Elizabeth Davis are the parents of Hannah Vestal's father.

In looking at the Vestal family you sent 11/16/97, I find I have slightly different list of ancestors for you to investigate. You have Rachel Elizabeth Vestal (1860-1891), d/o Thomas Vestal and Rachel, s/o William Vestal and Mary Wheeler. My records are undocumented and I have collected non-direct Vestals from various sources without documentation including LDS records. But I have the father of Rachel Elizabeth Vestal as Thomas Vestal (b.1830) and Rachel Martin m. in 1849, Chatham, NC. This Thomas the son of Thomas Vestal (18 Nov 1791) and Mary Brower, the son of William Vestal (1759-1828) and Mary Wheeler. You see by the dates of the line of fathers that this is more likely. As I say, I do not know the accuracy of the line I am stating only that I have gathered it and it is worth investigating. Hope this helps. Tom
