The Jesse you are talking about is Jesse C. Vestal,b. 1812 NC d. 1863 Missouri. Father unknown.The brothers that I have listed with him are Arthur,Henry Jack, Thomas and William.I have never come across an Alexander. Jesse married 1st. Mary (Mandy) Jones,2nd. Sarah (Sally) Davis,and 3rd. Martha Saletia (Patsy) Davis.Have also seen it stated though that Martha Patsy Davis's maiden name was King??? I have no idea who Jesse's father was.There are 16 Jesse Vestal's on my list and the only one close to the right time frame is Jesse Vestal (1808) but the brothers do not match up.

Very interesting to me... My Jesse Vestal b 1812 N Car was said to have had a brother Alexander. Did Jesse and Martha have a son named Jesse? Did they possibly raise Alexander as a "brother" to the other children? Boy wish I could help, but I have no listing of VESTAL in IL. They were of the NC line like you know and got a wagon train from St Louis MO 9 Oct 1851 and the rest of this family line left in 1852 in oxen train and they all settled in CA, some in Northern CA and others in and near Yuba Co., CA. I am sorry if I sent you in the wrong direction, or misunderstood what you wanted. I have had a lot of e-mail today to answer. I know nothing of VESTAL's in Canada. Yes, many lines I have worked over the years have so many similar names, and names like Thomas are just popular names chosen by many people of all lines. The VESTAL message board list is good, and just keep asking several times a month, and you are bound to find someone connected. Even go on the IL list, and Canada one, if there is one. Was your Stella May VESTAL related any way to theThomas VESTAL line from NC? My husband's line is descended from Thomas/William/and then Martha Frances VESTAL, she being his g grandmother. Crystal, I checked the land records as you suggested and did not find my VESTALs. There was a VESTAL but not one that is related to that I know of. My grand mother father was Madison Thomas VESTAL. He was born February 1852 in Illinios. According to the 1910/20 census his father was born in North Carolina. His mother appears to have been born in Canada. Nice coincidence that the middle name is Thomas and the North Carolina connection. This is about all I know about Stella's father and grand father. She married Fred Robert LEISER, July 15, 1908 also in Allen County. I have been having problems tracing her family. I know that her father was Madison T. VESTAL and her mother was Julia L. GREEN and they were both from Illinois. I believe that Madison and Julia moved to the San Diego area around 1910, but have not found them yet. Any help or direction would be appreciated.
