The Vermont Tribune, Ludlow, Friday, August 23, 1889 Bellows Falls 8/23/1889 Our base-ball team was downed by the Brattleboros, for the fifth time, on the latter's grounds, Thursday of last week. The score was 10 to 3. Rev. J. N. EMERY occupied his old-time position at the Universalist church, last Sunday, and will occupy the desk again next Sunday. Officer COLDWELL arrested Mike McCOLLIFF, Thursday afternoon of last week, on a charge of picking the pocket of a stranger named SUILIVAN while showing him the way to North Walpole, McCOLLIFF was held in $1,000 bail for his appearance at County Court. County Superintendent HALL will hold a special examination for teachers, at the high school, next Tuesday. Rev. N. W. ALGER has gone to Santa Cruz, Cal., where his son is seriously ill.
