    3. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Sept. 27, 1917. RUTLAND BRAKEMAN IS FATALLY INJURED. BENNINGTON--Sept. 21,--F. H. Bruce, a Rutland railroad brakeman running on the Chatham division, was fatally injured in the local yard this afternoon when he stepped from the pilot of the locomotive of his own train directly in front of a switcher. The young man, who was less than 30 years old, went under the wheels and both legs were severed, one close to the body. He lived considerably more than an hour after being carried to the freight house office. His home was in Rutland. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby
