The Vermont Tribune, Ludlow, Friday, August 23, 1889 Weston 8/23/1889 Miss Minnie AUSTIN, daughter of Harvey AUSTIN of Akron, Ohio, is visiting relatives in town. Miss Leona DRURY is at home from Boston. We notice Frank SHATTUCK of Boston on the street. Mrs. Omor HOWE has been visiting at Alva HOWE's. She departed for Windham, this week, to visit her brother-in-law, Zeno HOWE. C. W. SPRAGUE is repairing the piazza to his hotel building, also putting up another story for a double piazza. The base-ball nine go to Ludlow, Saturday. An interesting game may be expected. Some 15 attend the camp-meeting at Claremont. Miss Clara BALLARD of Ludlow has been engaged for the higher department and Miss Vinnie BRYANT of this village for the lower, in the village school. Both teachers have good reputations. The Proctorsville base-ball nine came over, last Saturday, to do up our verdant nine; but for some reason they did not do it. It was not because the day was not all that could be desired, nor because the P.'s did not play a splendid game, nor because they kicked manfully against playing against 10 men (though as far as we could see if they played against 10 men they played against 11 men also, as the game was umpired on the double system). The game was witnessed by quite a multitude from in and out of town. Miss Sarah LAWRENCE presented a handsome bouquet of flowers to the victors. Weston players: Proctorsville players: E.
