SOUTHINGTON - Wilfred J. Roy, 89, of 21 Homesdale Ave., passed away Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at HCC at the New Britain Campus. He was the loving husband for 62 years of the late Doris C. (Fowler) Roy who passed away in May. He was born June 25, 1919, in Quebec, Canada and naturalized by his father Joseph A. G. Roy on Sept. 26, 1930. Wilfred served in the U.S. Army as a Technician Third Grade 118th Ordnance Medium Maintenance Company from March 13, 1941 through his Honorable discharge Oct. 19, 1945. He was employed by General Electric Co. in Plainville for 32 years and retired in December 1983. He is survived by his children, Joyce White and her husband, Robert, Janet Sanborn and her husband, Keith, all of Southington, Ginny Roy of Plantsville, Vincent Roy and his wife, Pam of Bristol, Nancy Belanger and her husband, Gary of Southington and Barbara Stein of Bristol; nine grandchildren, Melissa Dow and her husband, William, Michael Sanborn and his wife, Jennifer, Rebecca Barger and her husband, Michael, Alicia Pensarosa, Ashley Belanger, Kayleigh Stein, Joshua Stein, Amy Mazuroski and Kristal Hughes; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Brittney, Deven, Jillian and Brett; and sisters, Margaret Roy and Joan Roy of New Britain, Betty Messenger of Ariz.; and a brother, Joseph Roy of Quebec, Canada. He was predeceased by a brother; and four sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept 9, at 11 a.m. Burial will be with military honors at Oak Hill Cemetery.
