    3. <Genbug6607@aol.com> Ethel in NE <Stephen Brown and Elizabeth Day Brown, who came to Troy, VT, about 1798 son, Levi Brown was born there. Hi Ethel, I have short military data for a Captain Stephen BROWN in the War of 1812-14 from Vermont. It does not give the town of residence. Would you like me to transcribe and post it here? ================================== from "Memories of the Early Days in the Town of Troy, Vermont" by Anne Huckins Butterfield, 1977: General History of Troy <excerpt> "In 1797, a Mr. Morrill moved to North Troy and was probably the first white man to winter in the valley. Most of the early pioneers settled along the Missisquoi River where the soil war various and quite productive." page 1 <except> "The town of Troy was first called Missisco (Missisquoi). It was organized in March 1802 and many of the first settlers were from Peacham and New Hampshire." page 2 <excerpt> Hope this helps, Jan Jordan<jnrose@webtv.net>
