    2. Source, The Manchester Journal--Thur. June 12, 1947. Page 4. PERU, VT . The Middleton and Nickerson homes have been opened for the summer season. Miss Lucille Paige is at home for an unscheduled vacation from the Rutland High School on account of flood damage in that city. Mrs. Frank Frazier and daughter of Syracuse, N. Y., are at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Adams. Mr. Frazier was there for the week end. Mrs. Ina Thompson and daughter, Mary Louise, of Manchester Depot, were at the home of Mrs. Thompson's father, D. B. Stone, during the week end. The Peru school closed for the summer vacation on Friday. The pupils, accompanied by their teacher, Miss Dickinson, enjoyed a picnic at Vilas Pool on Thursday. Graduation exercises were held in the church on Friday, when the following programs was given: Processional, Graduates , Invocation, Rev. R. A. Burn, Famous Americans : Jane Addams, Janet Lord; Theodore Roosevelt, Arthur Buell; Horace Mann, Herbert Batchelder, Class song, Graduates and chorus. Great speaker, Martin E. Powell. Presentation of diplomas, Miss Jessie Farnum, Recessional, Graduates. The graduates are Janet Norma Lord, Arthur Ernest Buell and Herbert Leroy Batchelder. David Farnum acted as junior marshal, and the chorus was made up of David Farnum, Frances Lord, Frances Shattuck, and Ronald Wilkins, with Mrs. R. A. Burn as accompanist.. A service appropriate for Children's day was given on Sunday morning by the school children under the direction of Rev. R. A. Burn and Miss Dickinson, in place of the usual morning service.
