    2. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--July 27, 1942. Page 5. MRS. EMMA RAND. BRATTLEBORO, July 26--Funeral services for Mrs. Emma L. Rand, 85, was held on Friday after a long illness, were held today with the Rev. V. G. Higgs, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial took place in Saxtons River. Mrs. Rand, formerly of Saxtons River, a past president of the Rebekah assembly of Vermont, was born in South Londonderry, November 26, 1856, a daughter of Josiah and Mary Jane Goddard. She taught schools in Londonderry and Landgrove. On November 26, 1877, she was married to Fred C. Rand of Townshend. He died November 6, 1920.
