There is a library in Hancock, but it might be best to make contact with the Town Clerk. The nearest historical society would be in the neighboring town of Rochester, Vermont. I support Forrest's idea of checking with the Town Clerk. I visited the Newport Center VT Town Clerk's Office one afternoon and found old school records. My dad, uncles and aunt went to grade school in the 30s and 40s. I found attendance records for each one of them, copied a sample and gave their respective record to them. It was fun! You never know what you might find if you just poke around with their blessing.
