The cars were slightly damaged and were put back on the rails in a short time. Owing to the excessive heat the committee in charge of the lawn fete of the Woman's club have postponed that function to the second week of August, a definite date to be announced later. Miss Adis Barrett of Montague, Mass., formerly of Rutland, who has been visiting in this city for a short time, returned home yesterday morning. Mrs. Agnes Fletcher and daughter Madeline of Somerville, Mass., are visiting at the home of Mrs. Fletcher's father, George B. Loomis of Roberts avenue. Miss Ida Loomis, her sister, who has been spending the last few weeks there, accompanied her home. Miss Lolita M. Smith of Burlington was a visitor in this city yesterday morning on her way to West Rutland, where she will visit at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Catherine H. Murphy. Dewey Forbush of Whitehall, N.Y., formerly of Rutland was a visitor in town yesterday. Miss Marguerite Johnson of Madison street went yesterday morning to Cuttingsville, where she will be the guest for a few days of her cousin, Miss Molly Pearson. Walter Colvin of Boston is visiting relatives in Rutland. Mrs. George Drake and son of Buffalo, N. Y., came yesterday morning to visit at the home of her parents, Judge and Mrs. F. G. Swinnerton of North Main street. Edward F. Jackson of Worcester, Mass., formerly of Rutland, who has been visiting at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Heman Jackson of Baxter street, returned yesterday morning. Miss Fannie Davis, who for the last several years has held the position as bookkeeper in the office of the Wallingford Manufacturing company at Wallingford, has resigned and is at her home on East Washington street. Dr. L. A. Heidel of Center street has purchased a Cole touring car. Lynn B. Brigham of Cottage street, who has been visiting relatives in Waitsfield for several days, has returned home. Mr. and Mrs. Napoleon Gosselin of Granger street have returned from Albany, N.Y., where they have been with their daughter, Miss Georgia Gosselin. Mr. and Mrs. Moses R. Anderson of Gibson avenue, who have been visiting with relatives in West Plattsburg, N.Y., have returned home. Mrs. T. M. Mrs. William Brown and Frances Doty of PLain street returned yesterday from East Wallingford, where they have been visiting relatives for some time. F. W. Trainer of the American Mercantile company of Lowell, Mass., was in the city yesterday. J. E. Forcier of Grant avenue has returned from Fort Henry, N.Y., where he was called by the death of his sister. Mrs. Helen J. Moulthrop and Miss Alice Hilliard of Grove street went yesterday to Dorset to visit relatives. Mrs. H. C. Farrar of Grove street is visiting relatives in Springfield, Mass. Miss Jeanie M. Hilliard of North Grove street left yesterday for Brattleboro, where she will be with friends for 10 days. The funeral of Ruth O. Blossom, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Blossom of Wales street, who died at the home of her parents Monday morning, took place from the house st 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. W. H. Spence being the officiating clergyman. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Beals of Park avenue have returned from a two weeks' trip to Glens Falls, N. Y., and Lake George.
