Poultney Area St. David's Society is working on a project collecting Welsh nicknames of residents of the Rutland County (Vermont) / Washington County (New York) "Slate Valley". With many families named Jones, Hughes, Roberts, Williams, and so on in the slate valley, nicknames were a means to help sort out which family folks belonged to, men and women alike. If you knew a Welsh family in the VT/ NY Slate Valley and recall a nickname, please send them through - OFF THE LIST.
