    2. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Sat. Nov. 27, 1937. BOY CRAWLS TO ROAD WITH BROKEN LEG. William Wood, 10, Drags Self 100 Yards After Fall at Fair Haven. William C.Wood, 10, of Fair Haven, who is receiving treatment at Rutland hospital for a compound fracture of the left leg, was described last night by Dr.Stewart Ross as the " spunkiest little boy in Rutland county." The boy, who lives with his grandfather, Charles Wood, a mile and a half south of Fair Haven, sustained his injury when he was thrown off the back of a horse he was riding yesterday afternoon. Despite the intense pain in his leg,William dragged himself nearly 100 yards through a field and up a 15 foot embankment before reaching the main highway where he attracted the attention of a motorist. He was taken to Dr. George D.Parkhurst's office for treatment .The doctor carried the boy to the Rutland hospital where he is being treated by Dr. Ross. William is the son of William J.
