If you don't know the date, you would have to give them the names and timeframe and see what they can do for you. As far as death records, I could not tell you about ones that are so recent (1977 - Albert; 1993 - Catherine). The ones I have ordered have been much older. With the ones I've received, they only list the name of the spouse, if the informant knew that information, and sometimes they give the place of burial. With more recent death records (ones on Albert and Catherine) these should (hopefully) list the informant's name as well as the place of burial for them. Sometimes if you can find out where someone is buried, you can contact the cemetery or the funeral home/director and they may have more information on the individual(s) for you. Obituaries should give the name of the funeral home(s)/director(s). Also, you may want to find burial transit permits for Albert and Catherine. If they did not die in the town/State they are buried in, these permits should tell you where they died and the dates, etc. In this case, since it looks like they both died at Portland, ME, I would check with the town/city clerk's office at Portland, ME, for their death records and possible burial permits. There might also be estate or probate records that may be held for them. The town clerk at Portland, ME may be able to tell you where their estate/probate records would be located. They may be held within the county (Cumberland).
