I read an article that was about Farmer James Wood of Lebanon, NH (1823-1895) in yesterdays New Hampshire Union Leader on page A3 about this farmer leaving a diary which documents the arrival on his farm of a fugitve slave coming to his farm as part of the Underground Railroad. This diary is going up for auction in New York this month and because of his entry about the slave is expected to sell for $1500 to $2000. www.unionleader.com is the web address for persons who wish to search for the article.
