Harriet, Below is Viola's obit. Legacy.com is a great source for RECENT newspaper obits.  They don't have all newspapers, but I have had good luck on this site.  Sometimes you can find archived obits (old), but there is a small fee to view them. For obits (from Vermont) that are very old, it is much better to contact the Vermont Dept. of Libraries to search for them for you, as long as you can give them enough information, such as exact date of death, and where their last residence was, so they know when and what newspaper(s) to search in. Hope this helps : ) Viola E. Norton           LUDLOW - Viola E. Norton, 71, died Feb. 6, 2009, at Mount Ascutney Hospital. She was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Waterville, the daughter of Melburn and Jean (Martin) Quinn. She attended school in Walpole and Alstead, N.H. On March 13, 1954, she married Arnold Norton Sr. of Cavendish. Mrs. Norton worked for Mack Molding for 14 years. She enjoyed pony pulling and flowers. Survivors include two sons, Arnold Norton Jr. of Proctorsville and Gary Norton of Mount Holly; three daughters, Eleanor Ellison of Ludlow, Candy Davis of North Springfield and Shirley Vagts of Tennessee; four sisters, Jeannette Skorupski of Minnesota, Carolyn Smith of Springfield, Mass., Katherine Hogan, Jeanann Lariviere, both of Massachusetts; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and her companion, Ralph Barnes of Springfield. She was predeceased by her husband; three brothers, William Pimintal, Melburn and James Quinn. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Methodist Church in Proctorsville with Pastor White officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Proctorsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Vermont and New Hampshire.
