The Vermont Phoenix, Brattleboro, Friday , January 16, 1891 Brattleboro The ice in the river broke up Tuesday morning after the long rain, and slowly passed down stream in a great, grinding mass. The january meeting of the Professional club will be held at the Brooks house next Monday evening. Capt. C. P. HALL will be the essayist, his topic being "Some phases of the public school question." A remarkably fine specimen of the sable, shot by Mr. Will F. CABOT during a recent hunting excursion in the New Hampshire and Maine wooda, and given by him to the natural history society, has been set up by Mr. CLARY and put in the society's collection. A buck deer's head, which Mr. CLARY has also mounted, will be retained by Mr. CABOT as a personal trophy of the excursion. Two choice specimens of hawks, one shot in Guilford and one in Marlboro, have been mounted by Mr. CLARY and added to the natural history society's collection. Jacob BISHOP will rebuild next spring on teh site of his house on the Hiram ALDRICH farm burned last fall. Esteyville etchings: R. N. HESCOCK has the frame up for a new house at the corner of Maple and cherry streets. E. M. ANGIER is building a large barn on Chestnut stree. H. A. STRONG has a new barn nerarly completed on Maple street. There is talk of building several houses in Esteyville the coming season. I t begins to look as if the building boom will strike this end of the village The following officers of D. of R., I. O. O. F. were installed last Tuesday evening by O. J. WILLARD, D. D.; N.
