Would anyone know if there was an orphanage or reform school in Rockingham at the time of the 1920 census? I have a census that lists a James H. Capen, age 9, listed along with a large number of other children at one location living with five adults; none of the children having the names of any of the adults. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to track down my Capen relations and this one doesn't fit. Thank you for your time. Robby Robinson An 'old' Yankee in the 'Heart of Dixie'
Could you be looking for the Kurn Hattin home in Westminster VT, a home for boys and girls at risk or in need? I was born in Northern Vermont, and when we moved to Brattleboro in the late 30s I am sure it was in operation. You can find info on google.
