GREENLEAF, department commander, G. A. R., has received application for a charter for a post at Saxton's River. Birchard post of Newfane is said to have lost $6 by the recent panoramic exhibition of war scenes at Fayetteville, while they made $1 at Townshend. HAPGOOD & ALDRICH of Bellows Falls, wholesale grocers, have filed a petition of insolvency, placing their liabilities at $3,000 and assets at $1,300. A West Rutland young man recently got leave of absence from his employer to attend the wedding of a friend in Albany, N. Y., and word came from him, Tuesday, that he had also "met his fate" at the wedding, and would bring home a bride soon. A story come from Rutland that a farmer in that county, a widower, and well-to-do, recently wrote to a woman near by whom he had never seen, describing the circumstances and said that if he did not hear from her to the contrary in two weeks, he would call there with a minister and be married to her.
