The Vermont Tribune, Ludlow, Friday, December 21, 1888 Weston 12/21/1888 Mr. LEWIS of Bellows Falls lectured at the Methodist church, Thursday eveining of last week, in the interest of temperance. The W. C. T. U. had a gingerbread sociable at Mrs. Henry HANNUM's, Wednesday evening. Elroy CLAYTON is teaching the Island school; Ozro CLAYTON in district No. 2. Miss Lizzie COLBURN has charge of the Bennett school, as she has had for a number of terms. Miss Jennie BOLSTER teaches in the Reservoir district. The remains of Rev. Caleb PIPER of West Rutland were brought here and placed in the tomb, Friday of last week. Mr. PIPER resided here some 24 years ago, being a Congregational preacher. He died at the age of 78 years. Wm. ABBOTT lost one of his horses, Wednesday night, from colic, after returning from Chester; a loss that he can ill afford to bear. C. J. WINSHIP is about town.
