    3. The Vermont Tribune, Ludlow, Friday, January 4, 1889 Sherburne 1/4/1889 John P. TURNER has been sick four weeks (some think he had a partial shock), but is a little better; his mother, aged 84, is quite poorly; and his wife wants rest, no doubt. On the whole a sick household. Mrs. PLUMLEY has had the doctor. Mrs. RAVELIN is better, and up about the house. Mr. MILLER is complaining, and cannot work. Simon SAWYER and Uncle PAIGE hold their own. About the school law. One man said he read it through twice, and thought it would be very expensive. We cannot have school in July and August; and when you take into consideration that we had snow every other month, last year, he asks "What time will the small and poor scholars have to go bare-footed." Three steam mills in town are well stocked with logs, and are doing a lively business. WILLARD has changed some of his help; also WILLIAMS.
