The Vermont Tribune, Ludlow, Friday, January 4, 1889 Mechanicsville 1/4/1889 Mr. and Mrs. A. I. TARBELL are visiting in Massachusetts. Mrs. E. WELLS picked 12 pansies from her yard, the morning of Dec. 26th. As Arthur PRESTON was skating at Tarbellville, last week, he fell through the ice and would have drowned but for May and Josie WELLS, who saw him and instantly gave the alarm. He was rescued by placing a board for him to cling to in his efforts to get out. P. E. CHASE's shop has been closed for three days, this week. School in district No. 4 (Tarbellville) closed Friday, Dec. 28th. Number of scholars, 33; average of attendance, 26. Scholars not absent during the term--Dannie ALLARD, Arthur TARBELL,. Examinations were held Thursday and Friday.
