The Vermont Tribune, Ludlow, Friday, January 4, 1889 North Shrewsbury 1/4/1889 Among recent improvements we note that Willard GUILD, our village merchant, has put in a storm porch, with large windows, at the entrance of his store; also double windows. Being a genuine Vermonter, he believes that notwithstanding the present open weather we shall have our average severe winter among these Green Mountains. Our minister has bone to join Elder KING of Mechanicsville in a union service at Mt. Holly, in the school-house just west of Henry LORD's cheese-factory. On a recent visit to the hospitable home of H. C. GLEASON, we were pleased to find that Mrs. DOW(a widowed sister of Mr. G., who has lived in the family for many years), who has for some time past been in very poor health, is so far recovered as to be much more comfortable. We trust her pleasant surroundings and the kind attention given by her brother and his amiable family will result in lifting her out of the sadness of mind into which she has fallen, into the sunshine of health and good cheer.
