Jan Thank you so much! And thank JF! YES! These are my ancestors! Nathaniel Severance was my great great grandfather! My great grandmother Maria or Martha grew up on his farm. About which there is a story on the web apparently treasure stolen long ago from the Abenaki was hidden on his farm by soldiers I am thrilled to learn Glen Sevrens was a woman I never knew who Glen was nor could I discover where Glen went. Perhaps now I can trace that part of the family. I will add this to my files. Do you know if it would be possible to find a copy of that article from 'Vermont Life?' -----Original Message----- From: vermont-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:vermont-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jan J. This may be off topic, but I hope someone can give me some advice! I will be attending the Genealogical Society of Vermont conference next Saturday in Barre. I am going to Barre on Friday to do some research at the VHS library, and staying overnight at the Bed and Breakfast which is very close. I would like suggestions as to close by, pretty good, places where I could have supper. Can anyone help me? Thanks a lot, Joann Nichols

Hello Sylvia Saw the attached message on the Vermont list and wondered if you would be able to do a marriage look-up for me...contact me off list if you can, and I will provide the names etc whudson@kingston.net thanks Jean ----- Original Message ----- From: Sylvia J. Bugbee To: vermont@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, August 25, 2008 5:09 PM Subject: Re: [VERMONT] SWANTON, VT -1805 Is that the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church? If so, I don't think they were organized that early. There are published marriage records for that church that don't start until 1854, which I assume was the beginning of the church. You might find records of marriages in St. Joseph's church in Burlington, also published (no, I take that back: they start in 1830). My guess is that they were married in Canada, if they were Catholic. Being so close to the border, and the border being what it was at that time, my bet is on a church in lower Quebec. If they were Protestant, there was both a Baptist and a Congregationalist church in Swanton that early. We have the Baptist church records here in Special Collections at the University of Vermont, and a history of the Congregational church but not, I believe, the church records. There was also the Stansted (Que.) Freewill Baptist church, and we have their records as well. Let me know if I can be of help in searching these collections. B&T is short for Branches and Twigs, the original publication of the Genealogical Society of Vermont. There are 24 volumes, from 1971-1994. Bonnette~~~~!! I wish I could help you, but I don't think I can. My maiden name was Bonnette... My relatives came from Quebec.....Granby area. My grandfather and his brothers emigrated to the USA around 1900.. or so..... Most of them are or were in the Troy and Keene, NH area..... I have not seen or heard from any of them for years, and would not have the slightest notion about how to go about it. I doubt anyone I knew then is still alive, as I was a very little girl, and they were all my grandfather's age!! I am sure there are still Bonnettes in that area,,,,,but I have no way of tracking the lineage to see who might be whom??? I don't have a Roswell Bonnette in my records. Wouldn't know which branch of the family he came from.......but I never heard his name before. And, from the dates you gave, he is obviously a "bit" before my time!!!! Also, he was in Vermont? My relatives were really more in the Troy and Keene, NH area, as I said just above. Do you, perchance, have any other information that might connect Roswell to any lines before or after him???? Or any other families he or they may have married into? Interesting.....but not sure we can connect. But, I'd like to see..
