Author: Carleique2 Surnames: Ayers, Goodsell(?), Hargrave Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.vermont.unknown/4928.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I appreciate your taking the time to reseach this for me. At least it gives me somewhere to start to see if there is any connection with the two names. I am just taking a longshot that Goodsell is a family name since all too often middle names are maiden names from the female lines. Thanks a bunch! Dear Jan, This book is up on our military page: http://military.evendon.com The direct link to the book is: http://www.evendon.net/PGHLookups/VtRevWarM.htm If you are transcribing the whole thing, I would be happy to send you the complete OCR transcription. Correcting that is probably a smaller job than typing in everything from scratch. I notice there is also a John Pennel in the Massachusetts books on the same page. He appears in a 1779 listing on page 119 of Volume 12. Here's the direct link: http://www.evendon.net/PGHLookups/cgi-bin/HandOff-1_0.cgi?MaRevWar12+MaRevWa r12+0119 I hope this is helpful. 3. Joann: I had the pleasure of visiting these records while researching the Baptists of Halifax for our town history. There was a valuable handwritten history sent to the Windham Association by the society clerk, Luther Edwards, in 1841. He described the origins and development of the Baptist Society as told by Benjamin Wilcox who witnessed the first attempt to erect a meetinghouse and the first baptism in town. The Halifax documents are in Carton 2 folder 15 as cited in the Halifax Town History published June 2008. The full collection is catalogued as follows: Database: Special Collections Catalog Author: Vermont Baptist Historical Society Title: Papers of Vermont Baptist Historical Society, 1785-1920 Description: 3 ft. Internet: Finding aid Summary: Collection includes correspondence, church records, documents, and historical papers; biographical sketches of clergymen and church leaders; newspaper clippings; and other papers, in which most local Baptist churches and associations in Vermont are represented. Notes: Collection does not circulate.
