The person is Cyrus Branch, a fugitive slave who settled in Brattleboro before the Civil War (see http://docsouth.unc.edu/global/result.html?term=African%20Americans%20--%20Vermont%20--%20Biography.) Eighteen soldiers who served in the 11th Regiment Infantry Vermont in the War of 1812 are buried in the Old Military Cemetery in the Town of Cheektowaga, Erie County, New York [NY]. The causes of death were not from war wounds but from diarrhea, jaundice, intermittent fever, or epilepsy. The first burial was 4 August 1814 and the last, 16 July 1815.     2. Source, Rutland Vt. Herald--Sat. Nov. 27, 1937. RICHARD GRISWOLD SUFFERS INJURY AT WALLINGFORD SHOP. Flying Stick From Clogged Saw Breaks Man's Glasses ; Bits of Glass Enter Eye. WALLINGFORD, Nov. 26--Richard Griswold, who escaped the perils of the woods yesterday and brought home a spikehorn buck, was painfully injured this morning at the clothespin factory of Christopher Swezey, where he is employed. The saw was clogged with sawdust and he was cleaning it out with a stick. The flew out of his hand and broke his glasses, bruising his eye and cutting his nose and throwing some bits of glass into his eye. Dr. F. G. Dudley was summoned and gave first aid treatment.     2. Source, Rutland Daily Herald--Sat. Nov. 27, 1937. BOY CRAWLS TO ROAD WITH BROKEN LEG. William Wood, 10, Drags Self 100 Yards After Fall at Fair Haven. William C.Wood, 10, of Fair Haven, who is receiving treatment at Rutland hospital for a compound fracture of the left leg, was described last night by Dr.Stewart Ross as the " spunkiest little boy in Rutland county." The boy, who lives with his grandfather, Charles Wood, a mile and a half south of Fair Haven, sustained his injury when he was thrown off the back of a horse he was riding yesterday afternoon. Despite the intense pain in his leg,William dragged himself nearly 100 yards through a field and up a 15 foot embankment before reaching the main highway where he attracted the attention of a motorist. He was taken to Dr. George D.Parkhurst's office for treatment .The doctor carried the boy to the Rutland hospital where he is being treated by Dr. Ross. William is the son of William J. Loseby, 31, who died Saturday morning at his home, 71 Washington street, Rutland, Vt,,after a long illness, will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Tossing funeral home on Washington street, Rev. Morgan Ashley, rector of Trinity church, will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Born in Proctor, Vt., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Loseby, who survive him, Mr. Loseby had spent the greater part of his life in this city. Other survivors include two brothers, Charles H.     2. Source, Rutland Daily Herald-- Thurs. Dec.17, 1959. RUTLAND , Vt. Edgar Mabury, 95, formerly of 72 Plain street,Rutland, Vt.,died at a nursing home in West Rutland Wednesday afternoon after a long illness. He was born in Rutland, Vt., Feb. 22, 1864, youngest son of George and Abbie Mabury. He spent all his life here and for many years was a member of the old Nickwackett Fire Station. He belonged to the Baptist Church and was long secretary of its Sunday School. He was a member of the Odd Fellows for over 50 years. Surviving are several nieces , among them Mrs. Russell Brown and Dr.Vera Congdon of Bellows Falls, Vt., and a nephew. He was predeceased by his wife wife, Minnie (Clark) Mabury and two infant children. The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Tossing Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry G. Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie (Clark) Mabury, 70, who died Saturday afternoon at the Rutland hospital, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at her home, 72 Plain street,Rutland, Vt. Rev. George W. Peck, jr., pastor of the Baptist church,will officiate.Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body will be moved to the house from the Tossing funeral home on Washington street this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. A life-long resident of this city, Mrs. Mabury was a member of the Baptist church, Good Will lodge of Rebekahs, and the past Noble Grands association. She is survived by her husband, Edgar Mabury, and four nieces, Mrs. William Boynton of Northfield, Vt., Mrs. George Forguites, Miss Elizabeth Boynton and Mrs. Nita Dietel, all of New York city.     2. Source, Rutland, Vt. Herald--Nov. 18, 1935 RUTLAND COUPLE MARRIED 50 YEARS. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar C. Mabury to Be "At Home" to Friends Today. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar C. Mabury of 72 Plain street will observe their golden wedding anniversary at their home today. In the evening, from 7 until 10 o'clock, they will keep" open house" to their friends. Mr. Mabury, who is janitor of the Park street school and the former Minnie Clark were married on November 18, 1885 by Rev. C. A. Reese, then Baptist minister in Rutland. Both Mr. and Mrs. Mabury have been life-long residents of this city. An unusual fact of their married life is that they always have lived in their present home at 72 Plain street, which they own. For more than 45 years, Mr. Mabury has been a member of the Odd Fellows lodge of this city. Mrs. Mabury is enrolled in the Rebekahs. Transcribed by, Joan H.
