That list was extracted from the U.S. Census records, according to their web site. The records we have here give biographical details on all inmates that wouldn't be in the census data, such as residence, next of kin or contact persons, occupation, etc. Sylvia Bugbee Special Collections Bailey-Howe Library University of Vermont Bev Lasure wrote: > The records from that era are available online at this site: > > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nekg3/nekg-outside.htm > > > > ************************************************* > List Guidelines: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vermont/VermontWelcome.html > Visit the Gateway to Vermont Web Site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vermont/ > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to VERMONT-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

Thanks Bev. Mom said Grandpa went to prison for making bootleg liquor during prohibition. Maybe it was the 1920's cause he wasn't in the 30's. I called Roland today and sent a check to my sister made to him forthe book and asked her to pick it up. It is nice of you to keep me informed about Hardwick. I have lately been on the quebec site trying to find Mitchell Shatney marriage to Alice Miles, I think it may have been around Stanstead in 1880, someone wrote a Cowansville marriage of Michel Shateny and Alice J. Miles in 1879 and that may be it. The theft of 82 Rhode Island Red chickens, almost broiler size, was discovered yesterday morning at Fra-Mar farm in Mendon, Sheriff Roy H. Leonard reported last night. The thieves took all but 17 of the chickens from the henhouse. Fra-Mar farm is owned by Mrs. Mary Dunn of 26 Washington street. The farm manager, Howard Evarts and his wife were out for the evening, but a hired man, who was sleeping in the main house, told Sheriff Leonard that he had heard the dog in the house barking about 10 o'clock Wednesday night. The main house is about 75 feet away from the henhouse. An investigation is being continued. Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby Genealogy not just a hobby, but a labor of love.

Bixby and Laura Bixby of Clarendon, who sold to the city of Rutland a portion of the land for the MacArthur airport site, yesterday brought suit against Fitzgerald Brothers Construction company of Troy, N.Y., contractors, demanding $2500 damages for alleged trespass. Stafford, Abatiell & Stafford are attorneys for the Bixbys. The case is returnable at the September term of Rutland County court. The Bixbys, who own farm land adjoining the airport site on the east, complain that the contractor, through its agents and employees, entered its lands, without leave on June 24, 25 and 26 and cut down and destroyed trees, timber and underbrush, also removing a line fence which, the Bixbys claim, was their property. The further allegation is made that the constracting firm dumped rocks and other material on to pasture lands belonging to the Bixbys rendering the land unfit for pasturing cattle and horses as the owners had been accustomed to do. p.s. The farm in this article belonged to my in-laws, it's still in the family today. The land was taken by condemnation ! Transcribed by, Joan H. Bixby Genealogy not just a hobby, but a labor of love.

I am guessing that the number of people in the Project now represents under half of what I expect to have on-line over the next 5 years. Third, my nubby fingers can't do all of the data entry. A significant part of what is now on-line has come from other people's GEDCOMs (many thanks). As well, I have received emails with corrections and small additions, as well as marvelous photos. If you find someone from your lineage on the Project website, it is almost certain that you have SOME data that isn't in the Project yet and I would really appreciate hearing about it, especially corrections. Fourth, there are now 164 photos in the photo gallery of the Project website including a US president, a British Prime Minister, a movie/TV star or two, and a few obscure authors. I would like to have 10 times that many photos, if people will send them to me; JPEG files in the 300k to 1meg size let me do some adjustments, if needed. I do give credit to the source of data and photos, as can be seen on the website. Best wishes for the season, David G.
