I am looking for information on Jaemes or James OATS/OATES, who might have been in York County Virginia Middle Plantation also later called Bruton Parish. He might have left the area during the Bacon Rebellion of the 1670s. Supposedly he was an acquaintence of Nathaniel Bacon. I wanted to post to the list to see if there was a record of those people, who was sympathetic to Bacon's Rebellion, which had to leave their homes for fear of being hung. I do have a Scarborough relation that was hung. James first appeared in North Carolina 7/Sep/1694.
