Hi all, I just joined this list and was hoping someone would be able to help me. I have been looking everywhere for an ancestor of mine. I am looking for Thomas Pemble who in about 1790 married Elizabeth Baltzegar in Orangeburgh, South Carolina. He and his wife had three children and he died January 17, 1800 (information from a family bible). Since I cannot find any other trace of him in South Carolina, I decided he must have just been there visiting. Yesterday I found on Ancestry a record of someone who may be related to him. Charles Parish Records, York County, Virginia, 1648-1789 PEMBLE MARY, dau. of Thomas and Catherine, b. Oct 12, bap. Oct 15, 1752 I know that this Thomas would be too old to be him, but maybe it is his father and Mary is his sister. If anyone knows anything about a Pemble in the 1700's in York County, I would appreciate knowing. TIA Kathe Hyslop TheHyslops@aol.com

My interest in York Co. is VERY early -- before 1700. What I would really love to discover is any early Quaker records, if anyone knows where any might be found. My York Co. interest is primarily Mary (Maulson) Lilly Chisman, who immigrated with her parents (Edward and Margaret Maulson) and her first husband, John Lilly into Virginia before 1636. Mary's second husband was Capt. Edmund Chisman. Because the Chisman family was prominent, Mary is often found in old Wm & Mary Quarterly articles, but I can find very little about her Lilly family. Her daughter Mary Lilly m. Robert Reade. I am hoping to learn more about her son John. I am particularly interested in learning whether these Lilly children were born in Virginia or in England. Also in learning where in England this family lived. I also need proof that she was the mother of all of Edmund Chisman's children. Is anyone aware of any early resources other than court and patent records that pertain to these families? They lived in Gloucester Co. after it was formed, in the part that today is Mathews Co. I have access to Polly M. Cary's "Colonial Gloucester" books and have already searched the York record index at Williamsburg. What have I missed? Thanks, Libbie Griffin

My York County connection is the Stone family. WIlliam Stone was born in York County c. 1685? He married Sarah ?. They had (I believe 4 children). THeir son, WIlliam Jr. married Elizabeth Roberson. This Stone family wound up in New Kent Co. in the 1700's. Anybody have any connection with this line? I am seeking information on my husbands HANCOCK family who is said to have been descended from one John HANCOCK of York Co., VA. I have created a homepage for what is believed to have been the descendants of this John HANCOCK. If you are interested, please access: http://home.att.net/~davehancock/HANCOCKhis.html Would appreciate feedback if anyone recognizes any connecting family or information concerning this family. This has been our brick wall for over 30 years. Just appears there is no information out that which pinpoints this assumed ancestry. Audrey Shields Hancock
