I am researching "HOLT'S" in Virginia. Have found them in James City Co., (first), Surry Co, and York. Looking for John W HOLT'S parentage? He was born May 1769, was raised by his grandparents, mother died ten days after he was born. Which grandparents raised him, and who (after all these yrs) is his parents. Any suggestions out there? Have you ever felt like your ancestors were helping you in your research? Have you ever wondered if they wanted to be discovered? Have you ever had anything truly amazing or miraculous happen during your research? Well, if so, you are not the only one! But until now, there hasn't been anywhere to talk about it, so I decided to create a place! Would you like to be the first to post on my new forum? If so, visit http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cuzn/ for details and then follow the link to the forum at http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/Special/DivineGuidance It's a GenConnect forum, so you're probably already familiar with how it works. I hope to hear lots of great stories! Thanks for your time, Jeannie ************* Now Available: "The Descendants of John Thomas Clay, Jamestown Immigrant and son of Sir John Clay of Wales" Also available: "The Descendants of James Bailey & Lucy Simms" For more info: http://www.trellis.net/users/madamx
Beginning a couple of days ago, all queries that are posted on the GenConnect Query Boards located on the corresponding VAGenWeb site for that county will be automicatically transfered to the appropriate county mailing list. This should be very helpful to all of you. However, please remember either to reply directly to the person who wrote the query on the GenConnect board, or use the link provided to go straight to the post on the GenConnect board & reply there. Simply replying to the mailing list probably will NOT reach the person who wrote the original query. I hope you all enjoy this new feature, compliments of Rootsweb! Jeannie Listowner PS. Not all mailing lists have signed up for this feature, but if you subscribe to a list that I maintain, you will have this service available. ************* Jeannie Watts Now Available: "The Descendants of John Thomas Clay, Jamestown Immigrant and son of Sir John Clay of Wales" Also available: "The Descendants of James Bailey & Lucy Simms" For more info: http://www.trellis.net/users/madamx

I am looking for information on Jaemes or James OATS/OATES, who might have been in York County Virginia Middle Plantation also later called Bruton Parish. He might have left the area during the Bacon Rebellion of the 1670s. Supposedly he was an acquaintence of Nathaniel Bacon. I wanted to post to the list to see if there was a record of those people, who was sympathetic to Bacon's Rebellion, which had to leave their homes for fear of being hung. I do have a Scarborough relation that was hung. James first appeared in North Carolina 7/Sep/1694. If there is anyone doing research on this individual please contact me, email me at LeBateman@NetZero.Net. Thankn you Le _____________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html
