Looking for information on W. H. Carter who married Martha Jane Howell on February 20, 1902 either in Wise Co., VA or Letcher Co., KY. W. H. Carter was said to be a Sheriff and was shot on February 17, 1929 and died the next day. A search of a list of Wise County Sheriffs does not list his name. It is possible that he could have been a Deputy Sheriff. Any information appreciated.
