    3. Hello & Good Morning! First I'll apologize for sending such a long posting, and to multiple lists. I'm stuck on my MULLINS line -- and desperate! <grin> Does anyone recognize this family? I know very little about them, but have several undocumented suspicions <grin>! Rather than send undocumented data.... I'm sending what I know so far. Alexander "Alec" Mullins (1870-1946) was my great grandfather. His sister was Nancy MULLINS (1867-1945), who married Giles SHORES in about 1887 in Mullens, WV. The obituary of Nancy (Mullins) Shores states that she was born March 7, 1867 in McDowell Co, WV. Nancy (MULLINS) SHORES was a midwife and called Granny SHORES. It seems like I should be able to find documentation on the parents of Nancy & Alec through Nancy (Granny SHORES) as she was somewhat well known. I found Nancy (MULLINS) SHORES in "The History of the Pound", Volume I, page 344: "Along about 1900 Giles and Nancy Shores moved from Burdine to Pound. "Doc" Giles Shores had trained as a medical doctor in Chicago and Nancy was a nurse. The people of Pound put many demands on their services. Doc Shores treated mostly with herbal remedies and common sense, and Nancy became known as Granny Shores, a midwife said to have "caught" over a 1000 babies during her lifetime, including one stillborn 25-pound baby." I'm hoping someone can help me with marriage records of Nancy MULLINS and Giles SHORES (1855-bef 1945) -- or any other information. I read that they were married in about 1887 in Mullens, WV, when Giles Shores came through after medical school in Chicago. Alexander MULLINS had the following (known) brothers and sisters, in no specific order: Nancy MULLINS <Granny Shores> Jack MULLINS Eliza MULLINS Harrison MULLINS Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated. I have quite a few books pertaining to Letcher, Knott, Floyd and Pike Counties in KY, Wise and Buchanan Counties in VA, and would be happy to reciprocate with any look ups.
