Hi Penny, What a nice tribute! I think almost all of SW Virginia is beautiful, especially from the Powell Valley Overlook outside Norton--any season, any weather, any time of day. Next time you're in our area, drive on over to Pound Gap and down the Kentucky side. The new highway construction on Jenkins Mt. uncovered the most spectacular geology right before your eyes. On down in the town of Jenkins a renovated train station houses a coal/train/history of Jenkins museum. There are white trash and solid gold people wherever one looks, and we generally find whichever kind we are looking for.
