He was at the trash pile(Stringtown child care center) with Snuffy Lovell. When they started home a train was on the side track waiting for the passanger train to pass. Ben put his foot on the track to climb over the train when it shifted and caught his big toe and cut it off. Snuffy flagged down the passanger train and they took him to the station in Appalachia where they called his parents.
