help us out here: what was the name of the virus? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Billy Sykes" <bgoat@bright.net> To: <VAWISE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, May 07, 2001 7:57 PM Subject: [VAWISE] Virus > Someone is sending a virus on rootsweb,McAfee detected this last night on incoming mail from VAWISE-Lrootsweb,be careful! > Billy > >
I got the kak.worm from a message posted on the Washington Co., TN list. It wasn't in an attachment. It was in the email and and when I opened the email, it got me. My Norton antivirus caught it but it couldn't get rid of it. Fortunately I was using Netscape and by using Norton's, instructions, I was able to get rid of it. If I had been using Outlook, it would have been more complicated. I have been very careful about opening attachments, and delete them if I don't know what they are, but now I am concerned about opening any email.
