Hi there -- no comment on the 20 census, just a shot in the dark. My grandfather was Melvin Monroe Martin, about 1879 to Benjamin Meredith (or Meredith Benjamin) Martin and Mary Ann? Not sure exactly where he was born, but in the South for sure. His sibs were: Walker, Hassell, Virgie ( Burchette), and Adam. Like I said, a shot in the dark. Let me know if they ring a bell.
