    3. I would bet that it was. All of the Cress's that I have heard of from Wise co. are descendants of George Cress (b. 1739). Do you have any idea who owned the store? 3. Paul, Did you ever pull a snake out while graveling for horney heads? My brother did and that is why I never tried it on my on. Did you ever make a pair of stilts, beat the cream cans in the middle and nail them on the stilts for footrests? They would also pull the soles off our shoes. My grandpa also had a "last" that he resoled our shoes with,. I wish I could locate it. Did you ever play a game of Kick the cream can? while one gathered them to set them back up, the rest of the kids scattered and hid. Whoever was caught last, was the "kicker" next time. Sort of like "hide and go seek". Antne Over{the way we said it} was another special game for us. Hopscotch was another. Does anyone know what the name of the object was called that was used in the game of hopscotch? One day last year my sister and me were trying to think what we called it. Never could. 2. Paul thank you so much for posting your "tales" to the list. it brings back memories that are so very precious to me. I too had to wrap the cloths about my legs and soak them with terpentine to keep the snakes away, and picking those luscious berries and "sneaking" a few as I picked sure were tasty. The tin cans tapped onto the shoes is another good memory that I had forgotten about. Thanks again Twanda

    2. Paul, My grandmothers name was Mary Margaret Mulwee. Her parents were Frank and Lizzie (I think short for Elizabeth). Mary had a sister (Cassie), and 2 brothers. (Clyde and I can't think of the other 1's name). From what I hae been told, they had became wards of the state. They were split up into differant counties. Grandma ended up in Hanover Co., VA. It seems that Cassie stayed down there. She married a Johnson man. I found their marriage down there. I can't think of his first name. A couple of my aunts and uncles remember going down there to visit 1 of my great uncles who had moved back down there. They had to park the car and follow a path and cross a creek to get to his house, that was a little way from the road. That is all I know. My aunts and uncle are up in age, and don't remeber to much. My grandmother didn't even know her own birthday, except that she was born in 1903. We lost her in 1959. A year before I was born. Thank you for asking. Sorry that I got long winded. I hope that someone knows of my Mulwee family. This has been the hardest to trace. Theresa Richmond, VA
