I am researching the Gibson and Ramey's from Va. My great great grandmother was Kate Gibson born 1822 in Va. I have no idea which county. I don't even know if Gibson was a maiden name or not. I can't find a birth or marriage record for her anywhere. Kate had my great grandfather John Ramey born 1842 in Va. I cannot find where in Va he was born or who his father was. Kate had a son William Gibson born 1848-9 in Va. William told his decendants that he was illegitimate. Kate had another son Samuel Gibson born Va around 1850-3 Another son Ham Gibson born in Va, year ?? A daughter Elvira born in Ky in the 1860's. The family came from Virginia and settled in Perry county . The part of perry county they settled in later became knott county. They lived there till they died. In 1900 knott county census Kate was living with her son William Gibson and his family. in 1910 knott county census William Gibson his wife Martha and children and his mother Kate Gibson all changed their names from Gibson to Collins. Will, his wife martha, and Kate his mother are all burried on Ball creek in knott county under the name Collins. ?????????? If anyone had any info on Kate Gibson, or John Ramey please e-mail me back.
