Probable children of Ralph (b.1583 in Hertfordshire, England) and Elizabeth (dau. of John HARSNETT) THOMPSON born in Hertfordshire, England came to MD and VA. My Col. George THOMPSON, born 1603, went to VA in 1623 with his his sister Mary TUCKER (w. of Capt. Wm TUCKER) and his brothers Maurice "Morris" (b.1604-d.1676); William (b.1613-d.aft 1670); Paul (b.1611-d.aft 1623);and Robert (d.1694, md 1660 in Middlesex Co., VA the widow Margt.--prob. MASCALL/MISKILL--WELCH). George lived in 1623 in Elizabeth City, VA; 1629 member of the House of Burgesses; 1637 was Lord of Admariothria Manor in Maryland; 1640's went to England; 1650 back in Northumberland Co. VA; 1656 in Westmoreland Co., VA; 1657 in Lancaster Co. VA; and before dying returned to England. Col. George THOMPSON in his 1690 Middlesex, English will named my SOUTH family--he called them his grandchildren: John SOUTH, Richard SOUTH, Elizabeth SOUTH, and George SOUTH.
