While browsing through a book on Westmoreland County, Virginia (1983 ed.), I came across a write up (p. 450) about Post Revolutionary Churches, Oak Grove Baptist 1875. It states that, "C.C. Thompson was elected as the first clerk of the church on Oct. 16 of the same year (1875). Until 1975, the office of clerk was held by a descendant of the Thompson family, with the exception of W. R. Pomeroy, who married into the family. Clerks following Mr. Thompson were G.V. Thompson, W. R. Pomeroy, ..." Does anyone any information (e.g. the given name) of C.C. Thompson, G.V. Thompson, and W. R. Pomeroy might have been? I have a great aunt that married a Wilbur Pomeroy. Any idea who the descendants of these Oak Grove Baptist clerks might have been? -- William G. Thompson Colonial Beach, VA
