    3. Bill, I am not researching Gerrard and Hutt but I do have those names in my ancestors from Westmoreland Co. I have a Temperance Gerrard, widow of Daniel Hutt who married John Crabb in 1675 That is where my line comes from. This Temperance was daughter of Dr. Thomas Gerrard and Susanna Snow. If this fits into your data I have more info I can send. Good luck, Arlene pwnlerl wrote: > Is anyone else researching the GERRARD and HUTT lines? If so, I would > like to exchange information. Born to John Jones and Eleanor Moss between 1744 - 1765 - best estimate probably in Westmoreland County, St. Paul's Parish. 1. [VAWESTMO-L] James A. Muse 1790-1805
    2. Linda M. Grider
    3. Hi Rooters, I was wondering if anyone had any information you could share on this person. It is possible that the middle initial is wrong. It could be James Gilmore MUSE, son of Richard Muse, son of Thomas Muse who may have been born in Wythe Co. Va. also. The above middle name is Alderson, James Alderson Muse. I am somewhat confused as to which one was the son of Richard Thomas. Any verification would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Linda

    2. Linda M. Grider
    3. Hi everyone, I am trying to verify if this man's middle initial is really A. or C. He would have been born there, probably, in this time frame 1795-1815. He is the son of Richard MUSE. Richard also had a will, but I don't have access to it. If anyone can find out for me, I will appreciate it more than you will ever know. I don't know if the court house there has birth records in this time frame or not. He could also have married an Elizabeth Walker there around 1835?? Thanks, Linda

    3. I am very interested in learning more about the Oliff family of Westmoreland County. Does anyone with this surname still live nearby and, if so, would they know their family's genealogy? A James Oliff and a John Davis Oliff appear on the Westmoreland County 1787 Personal Property Tax list. In Richmond County, the same year, are a George Oliffe and James Oliffe. Are they related? Any suggestions as to published or unpublished records to check? I'm travelling to VA next week. Thanks. Charles S. Miller South Carolina

We are planning a trip to Westmoreland County in the fall and would like to visit the area where George Eskridge lived. Thank you, Lois Kansas City, MO

    3. Hi All, If you have tried to access any of the Rootsweb pages, you will know that they are down. Here is a note from the server owner. We are hoping to be back at full capacity by early next week. HARDWARE STILL BROKEN (Friday ... ) Date: Friday, June 05, 1998 8:31 AM > The good news is that the failing drive is now out of the machine, > and the disks are organized such that we can easily move them to a > newer and faster machine. > > The bad news is that the old server is still overloaded. We had > hoped the new drives (which are much faster than the old drive) > would have helped reduce the load on the server, but we still have > capacity problems. We obviously still have stability problems on the old Web server. I'm in the process of replacing all the adapter boards, with especial prejudice concerning the SCSI disk controller. Regardless of whether I can get the old server to stay up, we'll have the new server online within the next couple of days. That should fix the problem in a permanent sense. -B Good luck in your quest, Yvonne, List Administrator ****** Yvonne James-Henderson, Burke, VA MO USGenWeb Archives Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo/mofiles.htm NC USGenWeb Archive Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/ncfiles.htm DC USGenWeb Archive Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/dc/dcfiles.htm ****** My Family Discussion Lists: BALLEAU BRISBIN COOKSEY GALBRAITH HITT HORN KENTON LAWSON LUCKY MORROW SWEET ZIMMERMAN Also researching JAMES/WRIGHT/WALLACE/WOODS//EATON/DRAKE/ FORSYTHE/WALKER/RUSSELL/DAVIS/BOOKOUT/BARNEY/REYNOLDS/ BUMP/HENDERSON/MCCLURG and more! 2. Hi Mary, I have an early PERRY Line in Westmoreland Co, Va - may I ask if you can give me any pointers on where to look for research materials. I live here in San Jose, CA and so it would be grand if I could do something on AOL - plus there is a Mormon Library not far from my house that I can easily use. I posted to the list a long time ago and "have not had a bite" - should I just keep plugging along and post every once in awhile and see if something turns up. Have just about started to think that I have made these folks up - ha. My PERRY Line in VA begins as follows: PERRY: WILLIAM Born ca. 1668, Westmoreland Co, VA Died bef. 01/21/1738-39. Westmoreland Co, VA Wife ________________. Ann Born ________(mo) _______(day), 1672 Died ________(mo) _______(day), ???? Parents Names - Not known at this time for either set of parents JOHN

    1. [VAWESTMO-L] AYLIFF/ALIFF/AYLETT families
    2. Mary Lucado
    3. Hello, I am trying to sort out the tangled web of the Ayliffe/Aylett family of Westmoreland Co. In court records there is a Richard Ayliffe in several court cases in the late 1600s. In the mid 1700s there are Ayletts (William, John, Philip, Benjamin) in the Westmoreland records. There is a series of letters supposedly from a Sir Benjamin Ayloffe of Essex, England to his brother John Aylett of VA, which would lead one to assume that the names Ayloffe and Aylett were one and the same. Is anyone else researching these families? I am trying to connect a Thomas Aliff/Ayliff of Fauquier Co. (d. between 1800-1810) who had sons Thomas and William who moved to Bedford Co. Is Thomas Sr. the son of William Aliff of Prince William? The land deeds and wills of the Ayletts mention having land in all of these counties (Fauquier, Prince William and Bedford). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mary
